- How do I know what I'm getting is the real deal?
Our titanium cutting boards all meet ASTM B265 standards, which sets limits on the quantity of impurities present in the cutting board. These impurities may include trace amounts of hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, or iron. All SURFACE22 cutting boards are at least 99% pure. Each cutting board you purchase comes with a certification of these results from the manufacturer. Many companies claim to be selling titanium cutting boards, when this isn't true.
- Why are plastic cutting boards bad?
Plastic cutting boards have been widely used in restaurants and by home cooks for decades. Since their widespread adoption in the 1950s, plastic was marketed as safe and cheap. Unfortunately, we now know this isn't true. Long-term effects of microplastic contamination are only beginning to be published.

- What type of titanium is my cutting board made from?
Our prototype and SURFACE 1.0 cutting boards are made from a commercial grade 1 titanium, certified under ASTM B265 standards. This is a pure, unalloyed titanium grade frequently used in aerospace, biomedical, and marine industries. This grade is soft, light, biocompatible, and has excellent resistance to corrosion, all the characteristics of a great cutting board.
- Is titanium safe to cut and eat on?
Titanium is 100% safe to eat on. Titanium is the most commonly used implant material, used in bone and teeth implants. Titanium is a heat-resistant material, so it will not deform or warp under heat. It can go into the dishwasher with the rest of your dishes, unlike plastic or wood cutting boards.

- Will a titanium cutting board dull my knives?
All cutting boards dull knives. In terms of hardness, Titanium is much softer than steel, but slightly harder than wood. Any cook concerns with their knives staying sharp will be satisfied with cutting on our titanium cutting boards.

- Where does my cutting board come from?
Our cutting boards are supplied by various manufacturers from Japan, Korea, China, and the United States. We work with our suppliers to only provide quality titanium, certified and inspected at every stage before it arrives at your doorstep. Our products are cut to specification in the Bay Area.
With every cutting board, you will receive certification from the supplier, detailing its location and purity. Regardless of supplier, all our cutting board undergo vigorous quality control.

- Does the cutting board scratch?
The cutting board will maintain some scratches. However, these scratches stay at the surface level, preventing bacteria from manifesting and allowing for a proper cleaning, unlike wood and plastic cutting boards.

- Can my cutting board go in the dishwasher?
Yes, our cutting boards can go in the dishwasher. However, some customers with plastic racks in their dishwasher have expressed that the cutting board can stain where it touches the plastic rack. Not to fear, this will not affect the cutting board or damage your dishwasher. Titanium is heat-resistant material, and will not wrap or be damaged from washing in the dishwasher. Rather, this is a significantly more sanitary method of cleaning compared to hand washing.
- How can I prevent my cutting board from sliding?
With each of our prototype cutting boards, we provide you with a cloth to place underneath the board to prevent slipping. Follow the instruction card you receive whenever you purchase one of our cutting boards.

- Will my cutting board have a handle?
Right now, we are still selling our prototype stock, which does not have a handle. Our prototype is simple, to test the quality of the product and determine what features are of utmost importance to customers. If you feel a handle is necessary for a cutting board, please let us know on our feedback survey here.
- How heavy is my cutting board?
We despise heavy, uncomfortable wooden cutting boards that are difficult to wash and handle. You won't be worried about breaking your toe if you drop our titanium cutting board.

- My cutting board came scratched. What can I do?
Although we rigorusly inspect our cutting boards before they are delivered to you, we are not responsible for any damages sustained during shipping. However, some cutting boards may be shipped with light scratching, as this does not impact the performance of the product.
